Land excision means that a part of land has been legally released to indigenous settlers by a government gazette and it’s termed to be excised.
To excise a land means to cut it. This is the process whereby the government releases a parcel of land back to the indigenous owners of such lands for the purpose of development.
Also, this signifies that the land is no longer under government acquisition.
